Tomato

by Corey Mesler

My love bit into a tomato.
It did not poison her
nor change the way she
torments me. Her mouth,
smeared red like a scar,
reached for mine. What
choice did I have, dear reader,
but to meet her teeth,
juiced and carmine and hungry?
